Over the past two years my shopping strategy has matured. Instead of buying cheap, cute pieces on impulse, I now always try to ask myself: "How will this piece fit in with my existing wardrobe, what void will it fill in my closet, and will I wear it two years down the road?" This helps avoid purchasing those pieces to which I cringe at the sight a year later and ask, "what the hell was I thinking?" I'm sure you're familiar with the feeling.

So, when it comes to building a cohesive wardrobe, it's important to own a few well-made, versatile pieces that seamlessly work together to create a polished yet effortless look. A truly admirable fashionista is one who knows how to wear the same piece multiple ways -- making her closet seem much bigger than it actually is. The term should be repeat connoisseur, not offender.

This neutral faux fur cropped jacket has become a staple in my fall/winter wardrobe; and this is my third time blogging about it. Shop below for versatile, but not so basic faux fur jackets.
